CLASSES
Sightreading, Triads, and Pentatonic Scales for Guitar Dan Nettles
Small, mobile, and useful in every style of music, the triad and pentatonic scales are exceptional tools to master. Using exercises adapted for George Van Eps's monumental text "Harmonic Mechanisms for Guitar" and Jerry Bergonzi's book "Pentatonics" this class focuses on understanding these concepts all over the guitar and using them as accompaniment, solos, or guitar hooks. Students will need to purchase Melodic Rhythms for Guitar by William Leavitt for the sightreading portion of the class, which can be found at Chick Music in Athens and Amazon.com.
Please contact the CMS office for further details.
For students who would prefer to attend a weekly class with a live teacher. This course is designed for students of all ages and abilities and is not instrument-specific. Students will learn basic music theory skills such as note-reading, rhythm, intervals, scales, key signatures, and musical terms in a weekly class setting. Ages 13 - adult.
